Pushing the Limits with Spectrum Metallic Glazes

Spectrum Glazes, Inc. just released six new metallic low-fire glazes and they gave me the opportunity to be one of the first raku artists to try them out on my own work. I will be experimenting with them in an upcoming raku firing. Although these glazes are reliable when applied and fired as intended, a raku firing has the possibility of creating some crazy, unexpected results. The idea of a reflective, but non-flashing glaze has the potential to open up a new direction for my work. As an artist, I am always trying out new ideas and pushing the limits for glazes. Spectrum’s new metallic glazes just raised the boundaries of those limits.
